Someone tell me if there is any Volvo service to Pondi from Chennai in the morning....
Hi Siddharth, Welcome to Indiamike
!.
In Mornings, As far as I know Volvo is not available in Chennai -Pondicherry circuit.
First Possible Volvo is 11:30 am [Rathimeena Travels] Followed by PRTC [Pondicherry govt bus Volvo A/c Bound for Thirunallar] at around 12:45 pm in this route BUT You need to book in advance Or check with them whether they allow Pondicherry bound passengers as both the buses Ply to Longer Distances [Almost twice the distance of Chennai to Pondicherry] !..
Hope this helps!

Hello! Sorry to beat a dead horse - I know there are multiple threads on how to get from Chennai to Pondy by bus already. But if this forum's members could indulge me and my specific requests
1. Am trying to catch an early Saturday morning bus to Pondy - arriving there before noon, say. I heard there are "ultra deluxe" SETC buses that run from Chennai to Pondy but can't find timings or where these leave from. Any ideas?
2. Failing the above option, what are some other reasonable (read: non falling apart) buses that I could take? I don't care so much but because I'm traveling with my mum so want to ensure a reasonably pleasant ride. Where to catch these and can I book in advance? We stay in Adyar at present.
3. Regarding return from Pondicherry on Sunday evening-- are there buses? I read that one can just stand at the Government bus stand until a bus shows up, but I have work Monday morning so can't afford to miss. Again traveling with my mum so a schedule would help enormously.
Thank you very much in advance and great forum!

Get to Koyambedu CMBT bus stand. From there, you could board SETC Or PRTc Or even normal TNSTC buses and you could board Velankanni,Vedaranyam,Mayiladu durai,Chidambaram,Cuddalore apart from Pondicherry buses. Ultra Deluxe frequency in early mornings [I mean around 7am + is better] .Even normal buses also ok only as it's just 3 hours journey in excellent roads [ Give preference to ECR route and Point to Point OR Non-Stop buses which will reduce your travelling time and also with scenery]

If this is the case, You could go to SETC booking counter within T.Nagar bus stand and book the ECR bound bus and give boarding point as Adyar Or tiruvanmiyur as the case many be to avoid dis-comfort !

Getting bus from Pondy to chennai is Hell especially on sundays 5.30 pm + as even though buses are there it will be exceptionally crowded and it's very difficult to get into the bus. [I had a very bad experience twice in this circuit on sundays around 6 pm until 7 pm].
You could reserve well in advance in Pondy bus stand [PRTC Or SETC or Even TNSTC] to avoid the discomfort !.
Hope this helps!
