Chennai Airport from Mamallapuram

Does anyone have any advice of travelling from Mamallapuran to Mumbia? My choices are getting the 11.45 train - but does this give me enough time in the morning to get to the station or to fly - there is a bus direct to the airport but i do not know the time. I don't really want to spend the night in Chennia.

If you Could start at Mamallapuram by Maximum 7.30 or 8 am , you could very well catch this 11:45 Train to Mumbai from Chennai Central !

You could board Chennai bus from Mamallapuram and get down at the last stop [ Koyambedu bus Terminus] and could hire an auto to Chennai Central [ Around 100 rs] "OR" there are "N" number of city buses tooo from Koyambedu to Chennai Central !

How about travelling to the airport?

It must be nearer than the station, but how would one do that by public transport from Mamallapuram?

Yes, Airport is relatively nearer to Mamallapuram rather than Chennai Central

From Mamallapuram ,We Could get direct bus to Tambaram [ Buses are there and even there is one direct City bus [Super-Deluxe Type ]which runs from Tambaram to Mamallapuram ] Followed by getting an Auto Or Cab to Airport ! [For Comfortable option].

(or)

We could board chennai-Bound bus from Mamallapuram and get down at Guindy and get a Cab /Auto to Chennai Airport [ This way , the buses are frequent]

Mahabalipuram also has a taxi or two -- you could go straight to the airport by car!

That would have been the obvious answer, yes. I'd guess it would only be an hour or so drive.

But Luckycat's concentration on public transport led me to believe that that was her budget.

Chennai Airport to Mahabs by Bus? We did this a few years ago and it was quick and easy. We are going back in November. Can someone remind me of the bus numbers and change points pls

i was wanting to get to Chennai from Mammapullarum on a Monday to catch a flight at 10am. How much would a taxi cost? could this easily be done? how bout by bus?

Hi Raina,
I know that many buses depart from Mahabs and stop at the Chennai airport on their way into Chennai. You can ask at the bus stand in the center of Mahab town.
Easy to do and takes about one hour as the airport is on the south side of the Chennai. Don't know about cab fares. Maybe someone closer to the scene can answer that question for you. Enjoy your stay.
