Car rental from Madurai?

Anyone have any recommendations on car rentals from Madurai? What are the approximate rates?

I don't necessarily need high luxury or a massive vehicle (I'll be travelling alone), but I'd like to focus on areas a little off-the-beaten track, and hiring and car and driver will be the easiest solution.

From Madurai, I'd like to spend 4-5 days travelling northwards. Itinerary yet to be confirmed - but probably a few days in Chettinadu, a few days in Chidambaram/Pichavaram and a couple short-term stops along the way, ending in Chennai, where I will fly out.

Will rates be cheaper from Madurai than in Chennai?

From madurai you can take semi luxury busses...there are lots of them leaving the bus station every half hour..
that's the quickest ...since tamil nadu bus service is pretty good.
If you want a taxi you have to probably walk around madurai and try finding a travel agency which i am sure will not be very difficult.
maybe i am a bit late answering this thread

Car rental tariff is cheaper than Chennai

Defenitely car rental rates are cheaper when you compare with chennai hire rate.

Toyota Innova rental will cost you between 1000 - 1200 INR per 12 hrs. For each Kilometer you will pay 5-6 INR + Driver beta as 150 INR.

In case the number Kilo meter is more than 250 KM in a day then you will be charged 16 INR / KM and car rental charge (Rs 1000-1200) will be discarded.

In chennai you may pay 900 INR for 6 hrs and allowed kilometer is 40.

check the carrentalmadurai.com for tariff rate

22959520 good links.

I used the Sri Devi Travels which is operating from madurai air port couple of time also the VMNM travels located near by meenakshi temple.

Sri Devi travel is bit expensive compare to the later. But they have large fright authrised to keep the fleet stand at madura airport.

Both are good, recommend them.

More madurai taxi and travel contact number
