best places to visit in tamil nadu

what are the best places to visit in tamil nadu.
I have chennai, mamallapuram on my list

time that i have outside of chennai and mamalapuram is 7 days
pl give me the best of the best. the once in lifetime places to see.
interests are nature seeing, beautiful monuments, temples etc.

Do visit Auroville and Puducherry. A very different experience.

If you are interested in Tamil Nadu's exquisite ancient heritage, take a quick look through this from my trip last year:

Depending on how you plan your itinerary, you can also include nature - Pichavaram mangrove forest near Chidambaram, the Nilgiris or Palani hills [Ooty - Kodai] etc.

hi,

The best places can suggest in Tamil nadu in order of places,

Chennai
Mahabalipuram
Pondicherry
Thanjavur (Chidambaram, Gangaikondacholapuram, Darasuram can visit enroute Pondy tanjore drive)
Trichy
Kodaikanal
Madurai ( visit rameswaram for a day trip) (Fly back to chennai or by train)

Can remove places or add no of nights in each place on the basis of your interest in that location.

tamil nadu is my favourite holiday destination and every place and every temple is better than the previous one.

All places mentioned so far are wonderful. For a good combination of what you like (nature, monuments, temples) I'd say the best is Rameswaram - one of Earth's truly unique places.

Swamimalai was my favorite place in TN. It's near the temple town of Kumbakonam, in the Cauvery River area.

Its such a beautiful area, with so many ancient temples close to each other. The Murugan temple in Swamimalai was a great place to visit.

You will not be very far from Chennai, also close to Chidabaram.
