Best place to stay overnight -Trichy or Thanjavur ?

Which is the good place to stay for 2 nights - Trichy or Thanjavur ?

And any hotels recommendations in either towns?

We are staying at the Ideal River View Resort in Thanjavur in January with a group of students. My husband checked it out this summer, and it is lovely!

What kind of hotels (STAR) are you looking for? Trichy has many 3 star and 4 star hotels. Thanjavur doesn't have that many.

Trichy we found was a good center .A few three star hotels (not expensive )and a very good bus system .

hi sm59,

trichy to tanjore(thanjavur) is 50-55kms(1 and half hours),if you havnt problem to travel for 50kms,you will stay in trichy.trichy is big city and has lot of 3,4 star hotels and good food facilities over than tanjore.

if you like 3 star hotel,HOTEL SANGAM in trichy is best,it is located near or backside of trichy railway station.

or any other budget hotels,trichy and tanjore is same quality,so you will stay in tanjore.

I guess my total budet is 3000 is for 3 people
I am also looking for a good central place where I can visit either place from there- by car.

Average price for a clean ,en suit ,Central , double room in trichy 300 / 400 irs ,anybody know any different ?
