Beach Resort in Pondicherry

Hi there,

Any recommendations on a beach resort in Pondy? Even something slightly away from the city is ok with me. My budget is about Rs 1000 to 1500 per night but willing to stretch if it's a great place to stay.

I am planning on going there mid-July. How is the weather likely to be then? Does is rain much in July at all?

Thanks

When I had gone there last year, I found this site very useful.. IIRC it listed beach resorts too- Ashoka? and others.

My opinion, unless you are there for 3/4 days with transport, or unless you want to just laze on the beach and in the hotel, the Promenade area is better.

There may be some rains... all depends on the moonsoon

The Promenade is good but expensive, Hotel Ajanta sea view is cheaper and equally good, sea facing and very close to town, a convenient place. One of our regular hangout places when meeting old friends and favorite watering hole in Pondicherry.

Yep. Second that. Service could be better, though.

The balconies attached to the sea facing rooms are really good.

Pondi has a lot of homestays. They provide an excellent option, are well maintained and usually quite cheap. Check these out too.

Homestays, really? Am surprised. Being in Pondicherry for such a long time I never knew that it had homestays...
