Bannerghatta Wildlife Park: any good?

Can anyone let me know if the Bannerghatta Wildlife Park, 22kms South of Bangalore is any good to take a bunch of kids to? Has anyone ever been there??

Just don't want to get there to find it's over priced and barren....

or a one day trip for the kids...a while back they used to have many lions, dont know the state now
one option is that you can take a ride in a bus thro the park where the lions are kept....other section is a park cum zoo kinda thing where you can have lunch and let the kids run around.
suggestion is pack lunch coz i dont think you would find grt lunch at the park itself

Why is this in Tamil Nadu section?

Bannerghatta is pretty much what shilpa said and its not at all overpriced. Yes good lunch isnt that easy to find there although you might consider some road side restuarant on the way back.

I didnt find any Lions when i had been there a couple of years back. I had a tiger safari instead. Nothing extraordinary but kids might enjoy it and first timers too.

If you want to catch the morning safari reach early in the morning. Google a bit and find out the safari timings.

I suppose I put it into the Tamil Nadu thread because it's just over the border and IM'rs know that we live in Krishnagiri Tamil Nadu!!

Thank you very much for the information, I think we have decided that it's where we will go. Apparantly you're not allowed to take plastic or any other drinking bottles into the park, but can buy them inside - not allowed to take packed lunches inside either, so we'll give their food a shot - children will love it anyway I guess!!
