Bangalore to Coimbatore..

I plan to travel by Road from Bangalore to Coimbatore (probably rent a car) in November time-frame. I would like to do a day of sight-seeing in Mysore, if possible, either on the way back or on the way to Coimbatore.

What is the exact distance? Which route is the best? Via Salem or Mysore? Distance for each? Also, how long does it take assuming a travel with family and constantly telling the rental driver not to drive too too fast.

Any help/info is appreciated..

Since u r visiting mysore, why not go through Mudumalai Sanctuary > Ooty > Mettupalayam > Coimbatore. You will enjoy the drive thru scenery as well. Make sure you climb to Ooty from Mysore by 6PM, or you may have some encounters with elephants and Wild bisons.

Ooty is 160odd km from Mysore
Coimbatore is 100km from Ooty

So Mysore > Ooty is approx 260-280km, but since u r heading through the mountains, you will only cover 30kmph average speed. On the plains it is upto ur driver.
