bangalore to chidambaram

Hi,
I intend to travel to chidambaram and i am little confused whether to take bangalore-tiruvanamalai-tirukkovilur-panruti-chambaram or bangalore-salem-attur-veppur-vriddachalam-chidambaram. I would like to know the road conditions and distances of these 2 routes.
with regards,

the first one via tiruvannamalai is the shortest. most of the road is in good condition. i drove either way in 2006.

the other route is much longer and guaranteed better road.

Hi Kumar,

Distance-wise I have no idea which one is shorter!

But just last month on 12th I had driven to Chidambaram as suggested by one of our IMer Mr. RaghuKumar. The road conditions are good and no need to worry at all.

We had visited Tiruvanamalai & Tiruvendipuram on enroute.

I took route via Hosur, Krishnagiri (NH7) from there via Uthagarai (NH66) & Tiruvanamalai & towards cuddalore via panruti, Tiruventhipuram (Devanathar swamy) & later proceed Chidambaram on NH45A.

Hope this piece of information may help you

Excluding break for darshans in both places ie., TVmalai & Tiru'ram it took us around 8-9 hrs.(approx). Please note that I had driven the vehicle on average speed coz I am an amateur driver!

thanks jay for replying,
I normally take bangalore-selam-attur-chidambaram and i have travelled in this route might be 10-12 times but some one broke my head and via t.v.malai is shorter.
Probably i will travel both the routes this time.
