Auroville Information?

Since we are on environmental conservation, have any of you heard of or been to Auroville? I'm taking a trip there and wondered if anyone has been and had any thoughts to share, etc

A ray of hope!

Yes, I've been down to Auroville. A nice rural commune of mostly French settlers who are followers of Sri Aurobindo. They have built a temple in the shape of a huge globe and when you enter the shrine all you see is a ray of light in a darkened circular hall. It has a surreal effect and you can sit there and meditate.
Transport to the village can be arranged from the Ashram in Pondicherry.

Thank you yogagal for moving my query. For some reason I was under the impression that at least one of the heritage hotels in Auroville were enriching reclaimed soil and using contemporary eco friendly power, architecture, etc. I am of course interested in Aurovilled but I am especially interested in the green technology they may (or may not be)employing.
