 I haven't been and regret it to this day  --> Chidambaram's very nice though. Little further afield I think. Man (woman), you wouldn't believe all the off-the-track places that are up for the taking there. I'll be back!I understand Kanchi is decidedly a pilgrim's place btw, and so a western tourist might feel out of place. Which would attract me.
