Advice needed on palani and thirukarugavur

My family along with infant would like to visit palani and thirukarugavur garbharakshambigai from vskp. I would like some suggestions from experts.

1. How much time will be taken for infant tonsure and darshan at palani?

2. Is there any good hotel in palani?.

3. How much time it takes from palani to thirukarugavur by taxi? Whats the distance between them?.

4. What is the timings in thirukarugavur for darshan and thanga thottil?

5.Can we finish both temples in same day and travel back by night?.

6. on return journey which is best papanasam or thanjavur?.

1. How much time will be taken for infant tonsure and darshan at palani?

That depends on the day you are visiting. If it Weekends / festival, then it will take almost 1/2 day to a day. Rest of the days, i think you should be able to complete within 4-5 hrs.

2. Is there any good hotel in palani?.

Lot of good hotels are there in Palani like Hotel Tamilnadu etc.

3. How much time it takes from palani to thirukarugavur by taxi? Whats the distance between them?.

If you take a taxi, then you should reach Thirukarugavur from Palani in 4 hrs. maximum

4. What is the timings in thirukarugavur for darshan and thanga thottil?

In my opinion, make it for two days. You can travel leisurely.

6. on return journey which is best papanasam or thanjavur?.

Papanasam is a very small town and does not have accommodation facilities. Thanjavur would be ideal place.

You can also visit Thittai vasistheswarar temple enroute Thirukarugavur from Thanjavur.

Thank you for your reply Mr.Balaji .Is it better to take taxi from thirukarugavur to coimbatore or chennai.

There are lot of trains to Chennai from Kumbakonam daily which is hardly 15Kms from Thirukarugavur. There is one Janashatabdi express to Coimbatore from Kumbakonam @ 15.00hrs (except tuesday).

So I would suggest you to take train instead of taxi.

Try Tiruppur Lodge in Palani, good place. There is also another way to plan the tonsure in Palani. The hotel people would arrange for the barber to come to your room itself and they make the child sit outside your room and do the tonsure. This again depends on your sentiments.
