Sudeer,
A wonderful account that gives a different view perspective on the tragic events that have struck India.

You have my best wishes. More power to you my friend

I got the week off and my family was away. Wanted to do something in my free time and hence my act of going there was fairly impulsive more than me being a great human or anything of that sort.

Sudheer:
You may have acted impulsively, but I believe that impulse came from a caring human being. Not all impulses are acted upon and your action at least warrants some recognition from us. If all people would react in such a selfless manner the world would be a much richer place. God bless you and your wonderful countrymen.

Way to go, Sudheer. Excellent work. Excellent report. God bless you.

For all of us who find India / Indians a bit much to comprehend...
this story tells us... There are Indians, and then there are Indians.
What more can you say.

Hope this new year brings peace and happiness
and strength of purpose for all.

They were quite ok. I mainly wanted to avoid the worry and stress that might have popped up due to this...

They asked me if I took the required precautions, I replied that how does it matter, now that I am back

And all you guys praising me, I am more a devil than the angel you guys are making out of me

Thanks Sudheer for sharing your experiences with us.
Sorry for the late reply, I've been out of action for last few weeks now due to Year closing but have been reading your post here once in a while.
Well I'm proud of you for not only what you did but more for the fact that you had the conviction and will to actually get there and act.

I'm slowly catching up with all the posts in last few weeks and did read your article on MSNBC.

Be Proud

I agree with everyone here. Dont downplay what you did, you deserve praise (although I know you didnt do it for that reason). You should be proud. Im proud of you and i dont even know you!

All most of us who live in other countries can do is send money or supplies, we would never have to endure the smells and sights that you have.

I nearly started crying at my desk!

If only there were more people like you in teh world

Sudheer, you're a real blessing and your report was more than most of us got from the Tsunami - Many of us, being thousands of miles away could only look on and become engulfed in tears. Thank you for doing what many of us would have done, and for the heartfelt report.

Spoke to Raja last week and he says that the town has prospered through the funds - "international aid funded prosperity" he says.. People have become quite lazy, more demanding and prefer to loaf around rather than worry about a secure future and living.. Sounds scary...

So I have decided to go back to Nagapattinam next week. To see for real the changes, the villages and the people. I have a lot of questions, but those of you who have thoughts/questions on this, please update this thread... I shall take them with me and try to bring back answers...

I leave on Saturday morning

Travel well Sudheer. I'm sure we're all looking forward to hearing what you discover.

Stay positive and don't let unhappy memories creep in!! Take care too.
