14 and 11 year old girls in Tamil Nadu
We'll be in Tamil Nadu for two or three weeks from late July to mid August. We're likely to enter from Karnataka to Ooty, then head for Kerala, then re-enter by train to Madurai and work our way across to Mamallapuram. Our girls are experienced travellers but will still get bored by the time i shoot my last temple! We are looking for advice on places or events that they might enjoy, or good places to relax for a day or two.
Any suggestions relating to: - water parks? - craft lessons? the girls made a batik in Bali and enjoyed that - less than disgusting zoos? There are some very sad ones in Asia but we really enjoyed the one in Singapore - good botanical gardens? - any other dance, theater, cultural or other events that may be of interest to a teen and near teen girl in these areas? thanks, Ian |

The corridor between Mahabalipuram and Chennai is full of stuff to do--amusement parks, crocodile farm, aquarium, etc.
I wrote about it a few years ago for a trade magazine-- http://www.funworldmagazine.com/2003...st_Road.htm l I think Madurai has a new waterpark, though I haven't seen it. It's probably small and low-tech. |

If you are going to Ooty, then head towards Coimbatore. They have a water park called BlackThunder (??) or so.
Near chennai too you have lots of stuff. They can give shot at the Mohini Aattam dance in Kerala. Depends on how much time you have. For dance etc, certainly you need more time. Say a week or so. |

Chennai is the home of South Indian classical music and dance.
Pondicherry has a nice botanical garden

Yes the crocodile farm is good, it also has lots of varieties of snakes there too. The people who work there will show you how a puff-adder "puffs" up. And they walk around amongst these massive crocs...
Great stuff - I'd certainly take my daughter there.
