Asia's newest sport - yak skiing
Yaks are found mainly in high, cold mountainous areas The American magazine Time has recommended the little-known sport of yak skiing in India as one of the 10 best ways in Asia to relax the mind. The magazine's Asian edition says this "implausible extreme sport" involves going at rocket speed uphill attached by rope to a yak charging downhill. The skier attracts the yak from up high by shaking a bucket of nuts, which must be put down fast before the fun begins. ![]() More at BBCworld

"Never shake the bucket of nuts before you're tied to the yak rope."

Ouch!
What happens at the halfway point when you meet a large hairy heavy yak coming downhill at high rate of speed as you are going uphill at an equal speed?
This sounds vaguely like the story of the person who is attempting to lower a heavy barrel of bricks from a roof. I hate to think what would happen if the yak was going too fast to stop at the nut bucket? Better keep a sharp knife handy to cut the rope before it takes you through the pulley... I want to SEE some photos of this! W22 ![]() |

Wahey!
All we need now is Johnny Knoxville! I once attempted to go skiing in Manali About 12 yrs back. After realising my size 14 (UK) feet would have no chance in hell of fitting into an Indian Ski boot I started to regret not bringing a tea tray! Still . . .the scenery was nice. ![]() |

I know it has nothing to do with anything but I do hope we all know YetiSports http://www.yetisports.org/ , they have snowboarding too. I think you have to register these days to play, look up their games on http://www.kontraband.com/ to get right into the action without further ado.
