Safest Beach? What are your recommendations?
Hi All,
planning a beach vacation in Nov-Dec.  Have been to a few beaches earlier, and have come to know that many of the popular beaches are not safe for swimming in the real sense.  ( I mean for an average swimmer who takes to the water once a year or so )which beach would you consider the safest for swimming in india? ( less chances of undercurrents, fairly shallow water, availability of a lifeguard, fairly calm waters most of the time etc ). thanks in advance for the responses!! |

Predictably I would say Palolem but it is one of the big draws of Palolem, the water has no vicious currents and remains a depth of just over a meter until about 20/25 meters from the shore!!
The beach north of Pondcherry is also very similar and good for swimming!! Happy Traveling  |

The beach at Tutucorin is also quite nice. You can wade into the sea upto 200-300 metres & still be only chest high. The problem is the beach itself, not very clean. But it's still heck of a beach.
As for lifeguards, that old man with that leathery tired face sitting there in the shade, is the man. Maybe he might call for help.... |
