Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar - a legend.
Some quotes:
by Hashim Amla
"Nothing bad can happen to us if we're on a plane in India with Sachin
Tendulkar on it."
Hashim Amla, the South African batsman, reassures himself as he boards a
flight
by Yaseer Hameed
"Sometimes you get so engrossed in watching batsmen like Rahul Dravid
and Sachin Tendulkar that you lose focus on your job."
"Tuzhe pata hai tune kiska catch chhoda hai?"
"Tuzhe pata hai tune kiska catch chhoda hai?" Wasim Akram to Abdul
Razzaq when the latter dropped Sachin's catch.
"To Sachin, the man we all want to be"
- What Andrew Symonds wrote on an aussie t-shirt he autographed
specially for Sachin
Beneath the helmet, under that unruly curly hair, inside the cranium,
there is something we don't know, something beyond scientific measure.
Something that allows him to soar, to roam a territory of sport that,
forget us, even those who are gifted enough to play alongside him cannot
even fathom. When he goes out to bat, people switch on their TV sets and
switch off their lives "
BBC on Sachin
But the finest compliment must be that bookmakers would not fix the odds
- or a game - until Tendulkar was out.
Brian Charles Lara again
Sachin is a genius. I'm a mere mortal.
by Mark Taylor
"We did not lose to a team called India...we lost to a man called
Sachin" - Mark Taylor, during the test match in Chennai (1997)
by M.L.Jaisimha:
"The more I see of him the more confused I'm getting to which is his
best knock."
by McGrath
"The joy he brings to the millions of his countrymen, the grace with
which he handles all the adulation and the expectations and his innate
humility - all make for a one-in-a-billion individual,"
by Wife Anjali
"I can be hundred per cent sure that Sachin will not play for a minute
longer when he is not enjoying himself. He is still so eager to go out
there and play. He will play as long as he feels he can play,"
by Hayden
"I have seen God. He bats at No. 4 for India."
"Even my father's name is Sachin Tendulkar."
Tendulkar's daughter, Sara, tells her class her father's name after the
teacher informs them of a restaurant of the same name in Mumbai
by KUMBLE : I am fortunate that I've to bowl at him only in the nets!
by Shahrukh Khan
quoting Shahrukh from an interview
Que: Who do you think as most important celebrity ?
Shahrukh: There was a big party where stars from bollywood and cricket
were invited. Suddenly, there was a big noise, all wanted to see
approaching Amitabh Bachhan.
Then Sachin entered the hall and Amitabh was leading the queue to get a
grab of the GENIUS!!
by Navjot Singh Sidhu
India me aap PrimeMinister ko ek Baar Katghare me khada kar sakte
hain.. Par Sachin Tendulkar par Ungli nahi utha Sakte..
by waqar younis
He can play that leg glance with a walking stick also .
A banner once said-' I will see God when I die but till then I will see Sachin.'
Sachin Tendulkar has often reminded me of a veteran army colonel who has
many medals on his chest to show how he has conquered bowlers all over
the world -- Allan Donald
And i remember reading in one of Allan Donald's interview. This
interview was in Cricket Talk and 7-8 yrs ago.
I was bowling to Sachin and he hit me for two fours in a row. One from
point and the other in between point and gully. That was the last two
balls of the over and the over after that we (SA) took a wicket and
during the group meeting i told Jonty (Rhodes) to be alert and i know a
way to pin Sachin. And i delivered the first ball of my next over and it
was a fuller length delevery outside offstump. And i shouted catch. To
my astonishment the ball was hit to the cover boundary. Such was the
brilliance of Sachin. His reflex time is the best i have ever seen. Its
like 1/20th of a sec. To get his wicket better not prepare. Atleast u
wont regret if he hits you for boundaries.
by Peter Rebouck - aussie journalist
On a train from Shimla to Delhi, there was a halt in one of the
stations.
The train stopped by for few minutes as usual.
Sachin was nearing century, batting on 98. The passengers, railway
officials, everyone on the train waited for Sachin to complete the
century.
This Genius can stop time in India!!
by NKP Salve, former Union Minister
This was when he was accused of ball tempering
"Sachin cannot cheat. He is to cricket what (Mahatma) Gandhiji was to
politics. It's clear discrimination. "
by Andy Flower:
There are 2 kind of batsmen in the world. One Sachin Tendulkar. Two all
the others.

An excerpt from Cricinfo.com
The official one-dayer had been abandoned because of bad light and a 20-over exhibition match organised instead. Pakistan put on 157 and India only got close thanks to an 18-ball 53 from a 16-year-old Sachin Tendulkar. One over from Abdul Qadir read: 6, 0, 4, 6, 6, 6. It announced Tendulkar to the world.
Abdul Qadir
The game was being played in the festive spirit. I had just bowled a maiden to Krishnamachari Srikkanth and I went to Sachin, who was the non-striker, and told him that when I bowled him the next over he shouldn't treat me as Abdul Qadir, but just as any other bowler from his galli or school, and go for his shots, as that would be good for his future. He was just a young boy then and I wanted to give him confidence. He just smiled at me and didn't say anything. Next over when I came on to bowl to him, he stepped out to hit the first ball for six over long-off. He was dropped at midwicket later in that over as he tried for another big one, but he managed three more sixes. It wasn't like I was just feeding him: I was trying my best to get him out, but he was just so talented that he gave me no chance.
Interviewed by Nagraj Gollapudi.
Sachin Tendulkar
When I came in to bat we needed 69 runs in five overs or so. I had a go at Mushtaq Ahmed who had taken two wickets and hit him for a couple of sixes. Qadir then came up to me said, "Bachchon ko kyon mar rahe ho? Hamein bhi maar dikhao" ("Why are you only hitting the kid? Hit me too.") Qadir was a great bowler and I was only playing my first series. I didn't say anything, but it fired me up. I took up the challenge and gave it a go. Ultimately we fell short only by four runs.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth
This innings was played at a time when nobody knew about Sachin and what he was capable of, so it was totally unexpected. Watching him from the other end, I was astonished at the kind of shots he played and especially the way he took on Qadir. It is unfortunate that that match isn't an official ODI, for it was one of the best innings I have seen.
Srikkanth captained India and put on 65 runs with Tendulkar. Interviewed by Arun Kumar Gopalakrishnan.

Do we really need an occassion to celebrate the glory of the Great Sachin Tendulkar.. , I believe the misunderstanding might be due to the first line which I will edit to avoid any further confusion.
Now that is something great, Sachin the actor:

If we were stupid enough to base " who is the best " on stats alone, then quite possibly no one will ever beat Bradmans batting average --but those were different times-- It's the little master and the Don-- and then everyone else. No doubt Tendulkar is the greatest of the modern era.
However from a motoring point of view (very important)- in the days before "Speed and Power" Tendulkar loved his Ferrari so much, that he imported 1st quality fuel, thus ensuring that his Italian goddess only drank the best. But i worry now because he has bought a nissan.------wtf------God's don't drive Datsuns.

thank god you saw the light and moved on. I am constantly amazed at India's upper class, somewhat wacky and fruit loop devotion to conspicuous consumption, and keeping up with the jones's, ferrari, bentley, mercedes-----Datsun oh dear, maybe India's unique approach to the concept of consistency adds to the crazyness of it all------as Robbie Coltrain the british actor famously said in his series--Planes, Trains, and automobiles---If you see me in a datsun you will know i am dead. Nick Mason (i think that's his name), the drummer from Pink Floyd, on alternative days, would drive what he considered the best and the worst car in the world--one day the 2 million pound 1960's ferrari GTO, and the next, the cardboard east german Trabant, all style minimal bling.----Sachin should hire him as a consumption consultant.

This made be nostalgic . I watched the match live on T.V . That was sometimes inback in 1989 I think. That was a furious series with an one day match getting abondoned due to the spectetors .It was this innings which made me a fan of the wonder boy as he was called those days. I could well remember that Qadir was clapping after the third six. It was the bowling of Akram and a couple of bad umpiring decision which took the match away from India. Similar Threads
