running in india?
Hi,
Sorry if this sounds ignorant. I'm a first-time traveler to India. Will be there for 2 1/2 weeks (around Rajasthan and Varanasi). Just wondering if I should even consider going for a run (single female) while I'm there. Is it safe? Any areas to avoid? (Would shorts/t-shirt be ok to run around in?) Thanks! |

I was only in Mumbai and Delhi, but I would say that running would be fine except perhaps sweat pants would be more advisable than shorts.
My two cents! Kim

Agree with Mehndi, if you run, be more covered up than you would at home (out of respect--locals would just stare, not harm you). But be prepared for extra attention anyway--like kids joining in
. Foreigners attract (friendly) attention just standing still! And consider the dusty, dry environment of Rajasthan and general bad air pollution in India. |
