Raid De Himalaya

I came to know about Raid De Himalaya from myHimachal website.

A car rally on the Himalayan roads must be having some followers at IM? I am also wondering if anyone we know is taking part this year?

I of course should go and grab an Avomine and fall asleep as my motion sickness on mountain rods is so strong.

The Himachal Mountain Trail Biking is also on these days. It passed my village yesterday as this year the route was changed since heavy rains washed off the original route.

Mix responses from people seeing the bikers whizz off. One serious damage to a biker who failed to notice a U turn and went off the road. He was sent to Rampur hospital later for treatment. Another one, from the Indian Army team, went straight into a tea shop knocking of people but thankfully was last seen collecting his cycle and buzzing off.

My father who loves to drive his car in the middle of village road and seldom checks the rear mirror was jolted when he suddenly heard some shouts. He ignored the shouts for next 200 m but then had a bright idea to check the rear mirror and found a trail of bikers following his car, finally pulling off the road.

Thanks for sharing the incidents Vasuki. I was actually wondering how do the people actually living in the region view these events.

Most of them are surprised at the speed of these bikers and the elders simply term them mad. The young are excited about seeing the bikes and a sudden rush of activity in the area. Speed and stamina, is something which my cousins were talking about on phone. Pity the locals did not knew (in advance) the bikers were crossing the village and the timing was such that the local school children too missed the bikers. It would have been simply great to watch the bikers.

Vasuki, thanks for sharing further insights. It is a pity that the locals did not know of the timings.
