Local Cricket Games - where to get info???
My husband is a real cricket fanatic and we are off to India in December. Does anyone know how I can find information on local/state cricket fixtures? He would love to catch a game whilst there. I did try the Australian Cricket Board site which led me to the official Indian site but that had no info on local schedules. Any info / tips etc appreciated.

Thanks Shimla, but unfortunately all the info on the domestic competitions is for the 2004/2005 season which has already passed. They have not yet updated the site with the forthcoming seasons fixture. I appreciate the help though.

Once the Indian Cricket board announces the programme for the 2005-06 season, the site will update the same. This will be in September, if I'm not mistaken.
However, do watch this website, in my opinion its the best on cricket. |

Hi Sienna, when we were planning our trip attending a cricket match was always going to be a highlight for us,with 2 of our children cricket mad along with myself. We were in Kolkata, and there happened to be a match[similar to the Pura Cup in Australia]It was on at Eden gardens and Sourav Ganguly was playing for West Bengal,we spent a couple of hours over 2 days watching which resulted in our kids being invited into the dressing room and spending a couple of hours with the cricketers and Sorav himself. In the end all 7 of us were in the pavillion .It was so wonderful having a yarn and photos taken, a huge highlight of India.Cricket is so huge,I have several photos of the kids playing cricket alongside the Ganges and also in small towns.Kindest cheers,Carol Wilson.

That sounds like a wonderful experience. My husband is also planning to take a bat and ball with him and see if he can get a few locals to play a game or 2 with him in the park!

However, do ask your husband to brush up his knowledge of Indian cricket, particularly on Tendulkar, Ganguly, Sehwag, Dravid, Harbhajan and Kumble! He'll then be an instant hit with the local cricket enthusiasts. |
