....alas brishti, the debauchery went out with the real star of the show. The man with those terribly mismatched loud ties, even louder parties, fast cars and glam dolls. no more does ipl grab atleast three pages of the national dailies - sports for the matches, city supplements for what happened afterwards and front pages for what happened behind the scenes !

Stadia in season 4 were empty and I suspect a repeat ....

After all, the real player is no longer playing.... You know who I'm talking about !!!!

Vaibhav, do you mean the IPL after the world cup where the stadium was empty?

I know who the real player is. He also lost a court case against Chris Cairns.

Quite a few movies are also releasing during the IPL season this year.

@ aarosh - I think the stadia were empty more due to the untimely ouster of Mr Commissioner - and the resulting fall in glam quotient by a few notches (nah, make that the entire ladder). I was just following the first post and didnt check that madam meant season 5 and not season 4! I will correct the first post now.

@ brishti - spoken like a true phollower of the real captain. I have always wished, watching him play that cricket should have football like regulations. So, you could have him bat on the offside, and the remaining three fourth of the time (leg side, fielding (shudder) and balling ), just have him go to the dressing room and do this (an adda, this is called, If I'm not mistaken

But hey all this aside, we have katy perry for the opening!!

arrghhhhh ... what an opening ceremony!! did you see that dress (if one may call it that) that Katy perry was wearing!! oh man .... lets hope the matches are a bit better. Dhoni seems more worried about TRPs than batting ...

I am not a big fan of IPL. My son however, is and we are off to the first game at BLR on the 7th of April. Super excited.

Look at that indomitable aggression, the fiery body language of Sourav Ganguly. Nobody has made him the best batsman in the world, but he will still remain the best captain of India. He's back again, with his famous cricketing brain. Ajay Jadeja rightly said that after all it's the brain that won the match.

Pune, Mumbai and as usual Chennai look strong.

Kolkata, Hyderabad and as usual Punjab look weak.
