I do not understand why he didn't wait till end of T20WC to do this. Is he afraid of failing against SA this summer in the shorter form of the game?

Cheers

No doubt he is thinking KP first as usual.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Apparently KP wished to carry on in T20 but the ECB told him he was not required if he didn't want to play the 50 over format.

Dave

If that is true, it seems fair. Players cannot get to choose which format of the game they will play and which they will not. Or for that matter which series they will play and which they will not. Case in point - SRT.

It seems like only the ICC is interested in continuing with the ODI's, whereas most of the players aren't really interested in playing this format.

It's funny the way ICC changes the rules every six months or less like powerplays etc, probably Cricket's the only sport where it happens.

Then who will take a call in this regard?

I think it should be the players who would be able to choose as well, apart from the boards taking decision.

I think it was a ECB policy. If some one retires from either ODI or Twenty20, they are considered as retired from both the formats.

That's correct. ECB central contract states that either you have to play both limited overs format (ODIs and T20Is) plus tests OR only Tests, if you are available for selection.

Who needs KP anyway? Bell scores 126 off 117 balls in the first ODI v Windies.

Still don't need KP. England go 2-0 up on Aussies in five game ODI series.

Strong performance by India's ladies who beat England ladies in first ODI at Lords.

It is good to see the Australians lose the series against England. If it had not rained it would have probably have been a whitewash in the 5 match series.

I wonder if the English would be consistent enough for the next series against the South Africans as well.

South Africa in England 2012

Starting a new thread.

SA won the 1st test handsomely at The Oval and we have the 2nd test in progress at Headingley. England are fighting back in the 1st innings and all of it is the terrific batting of KP. When he is in the zone, there is no stopping.

Funny though, look at these 2 scenarios:

SA batting, AB and Philaner at the crease. KP bowling and Prior is behind the stumps.

England batting, KP and Prior at the crease. Morkel bowling and Prior behind the stumps.

Both cases look like a First class match in SA!

Cheers

Prior is OK but I expect that even KP would have difficulty batting and keeping wicket at the same time.
