Friends from India have been calling to gloat. Apparently there is heaps of fireworks, as Mahajan said, and apparently dancing and pure hedonism. This is in the streets in Varanasi by the way. I wish I was in Delhi or Bombay right now!

Around 8.30pm pm it was like dewali in Jodhpur, fire crackers every where. color ones, noisy ones. People were sticking in fornt of the TV for long time this evening since 5.30pm. Good it was not waste of time.

I was in a bar, and it became like one huge family. Superstitions, black magic, witchcraft was all part of the game
...Once Misbah hit the six in the last over, all went down, I virtually had tears in my eyes, god couldn't do this to a country of a billion people. But one Mumbaikar in the crowd started singing "Ganpati Babba Maurya", and entire crowd joined him. Such was the spirit of Ganpati that we couldn't stop singing and to it, well after the victory. The restaurant, gave a bottle of champagne (on the house), which was used to good effect along with several beers. The celebration continued. |
