India v England Tour 2008
Hi.
I'm in Sidhbari at the moment and I really want to go and see one of these games. I'll be going on my own (once i work out which venue is closest)so i was just wondering if anyone else is going along? Would be great to meet up. I haven't got a ticket yet but i'm keeping my eyes peeled on ticketpro.india Many thanks Tony |

Hi tony,
I'm working in Rajasthan at the moment but am keen to go to the ODI in Indore on November 17th. As I understand it you can get tickets (maybe) on the web from one week before, otherwise you just turn up at the gates. Let me know if you're keen! David |

hi guys,
i have just registered on the forum, my name is dan & i'm an aussie who is planning to spend a month travelling around india in november/december. i would be reallllllly keen to go to a cricket game whilst i am over there and suprisingly enough david it's the same one you mentioned! do you know much about how to get tickets and/or what they will cost? i will need to make a special trip to indore for the game so i'd like to know that i can get into the game if i travel there! cheers! - dan |

Hi Dan,
That'd be cool to have so company for the match! Basically i think ticketpro.co.in is the way to go if you want to book tickets, but they don't 'open the lines' 'til about a week before... However, i'm pretty sure that turning up on the day works fine (i doubt all the random folk that you see on tv turning up to watch the matches here have pre-booked!). Know what you mean though - it'd be good to have some sort of prior confirmation.. Best bet is to look though these forums to hear of others' experiences.. Think I'll probs head down to Indore either way, so will keep you posted.. David |

Hey,
Thinking about it I reckon I'm definitely gunna book a train down to Indore for the 16th Nov and try my luck in the queue the next day. I've been in India for a year and am yet to see a cricket match - even I have to pay Rs 1000+ to a scalper I'm gunna see this game! Hope some of yous can join me! David ps looked at some of the other threads on this theme. alot mention scalpers being an issue but in Indore it won't be nearly as bad as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata etc. Worst comes worst we can always climb up on a roof or something! |

Hi David,
This sounds like a plan is coming together. We might be moving south soon, all the way to Kerela but i shall look at trying to be there on the 16th in the queue with you. That way we can soak up the atmosphere and pass the time. Dan, hope you can join us. I won't say anything about the australia/india result for fear of jinxing this game in november. cheers all Tony |

Tony,
That's great! The match is on the 17th though, not 16th (unless you were suggesting we'd have to queue overnight!). Think it starts at 10ish, so ill get there at, i dunno, maybe 6am. I think getting tickets shouldn't be a problem though.. Like I said, I doubt everyone is that organised... Plus, ICL is on at the moment so a lot of cricket addicts are getting their fix that way! Anyway, dunno if this'll work, but my mobile number is (0)nine 7 four 6 zero 0 two 6 three 8. We can maybe talk closer to the time.. Actually i heard somewhere that for some games you can't take camera and phones in... Will look into that.. Anyways, keep me posted! David |

Hey,
Just heard back from a mate who went to an England game when he was year, albeit a Test. He said cameras and phones are fine and tickets weren't a problem. Bring it on! Barmy Army! |

Hi Chris,
Good to have another name on the team sheet! I agree it'd be good to meet up before the match. I get into Indore late on the 16th (ie the day before the match) so probs won't be able to meet 'til following morning. But I'll do some research and see if I can find a place near the stadium where we can meet.. Also I'll try and book myself a hotel room in Indore this weekend and will let folk know which it is in case anyone wants to meet there. Awesome, getting excited now (even though India are spanking Oz at the moment and our players will have just lost $1m each!) David |

Hi guys,
Just to update you: I've booked into Hotel Neelam (0731 2466001) for 16th - 21st Nov (will be around for a few days as I have some work commitments). It's budget - Rs250/night - but is centrally located. It's about 1.5km from there to Nehru Stadium. I suggest meeting outside the State Bank of India on AB Road, which is near the stadium and is in all the guidebooks: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e....038624&z= 15 Play starts at 9am so what time should we meet? Is 7am too early do you think? David |
