this is pretty exciting, though i'm sure you could do without the additional exhaust!

i admit to having had less than no interest in what i called "a silly car race" until i attended the formula 1 grand prix in monte carlo, monaco. despite myself, i found it to be a singular thrill to see, hear and, yes, FEEL the earth-rumbling power of those engines. really nothing like it.

i hope you'll be able to make it to india's first.

Its is mentioned that two sites are Sohna OR Greater Noida and I safely assume that it would be atleast 60 km from center of Delhi...

I don't feel that exhaust would be a major concern, as both these sites are far off from city, and even though I am not a follower of the races, however I feel that events do not take place round the year in a particular city.

And I am sure that it would bring in a lot of infrastructural development to the city...

i was being facetious about the exhaust--a mere drop in the bucket--at least based on the relatively few breaths i labored to take in delhi and kolkata!

Things have really improved in last 5 years, before that life was hell, and these days its lot more comfortable compared to what it used to be then..

Numbers in Delhi are really Ironical, if you combine private vehicles of all metros (Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkatta) in India, then also they fall short of number of vehicles in Delhi..

Still somehow it is among the cities with largest area covered by greenery...and over here I am talking not only India, but world over...

If I remember correctly, Delhi had 11% green land, and its growth rate is also among the fastest in country...

PS : Comparison is with other large OR mega Cities in the world.

Monaco is the best track ever in F1 because it's the city streets. Maybe they should have the F1 race just go around Connaught Place 100 times.

They were planning to have it on Rajpath, not sure what happened though..it would have been a great Track..atleast by the surroundings...

As of now they have finalized Greater Noida as the location...

no

..it might not happen in Delhi at all. I dont remember all the details now but a times of India report a few days back cited Delhi losing to Noida on the hosting...while it will have absolutely no affect on visitors it is "technically" a loss for the dilliwalas..

Would have been nice to see them race with delhi traffic plying on the roads as well....

Read my post above..I did mentioned its going to GN...but again how much things can Delhi accommodate...its good that all these extra-curricular things like industries, airports, suburbs, golf courses etc are going to suburbs...

Delhi should be a proper residential area..with necessary things only..

i agree on industries etc shifting out , but its a bit too late to hope for Delhi being a purely residential area...now , and to change the subject completely, Delhi could have accomodated far more things if the planning had been done right..or rather if some planning had been done at all.. Leyutens Delhi boasts of some of the most open spaces in te city while serving as a residential area to a significant population...

Chandigarh is another example of good planning...
