Hockey in Kerala...?

Hi there,

I am moving to Cochi and would love to carry on my hockey. Does anybody know if there is a big hockey following in the south?

Some help would be much appreciated!

Note to Americans and Canadians: This thread is not about hockey, it's about what you call "field hockey"...

I can't be very sure about Kochi, but Hockey in India is on its death bed. Dirty politics, lack of sponsors, an uncertain future and maddening addiction to cricket has dissuaded young Indians to take up Hockey as a career.

I mean, chances are you may run into a Team India hockey player, sipping chai on a road side and wouldn't recognise him. That's the ignominy our hockey players have to live through in their daily lives. Why would you wanna play hockey for India?

Hard to imagine such a forgotten and ignored sport is India's national sport.

Hope you can continue playing Hockey in Kerala.
