Golf in Kerala, Tamil, Karnataka:Reccommendations?
Taking my first trip(5 weeks) to India from USA, next month (yeah!), and am looking for tips on playing at golf courses in the south, might only have time for one or two rounds, to get into my 'comfort zone' while traveling. Is it possible to play any of the private tea plantation courses in the hills? And do most courses rent clubs?
Thanks in advance for your help! |

The High Range Club in Munnar has a 9-hole golf course. They do rent out clubs. I am not sure how straight forward it is when it comes to booking a room at the club or whether its possible for those other than guests to make use of the golf course. Do contact them directly for details.
There is another golf course in Kundle, which is about 30 kms from Munnar town. |

Thanks 2cents! I sent an email to the High Range Club. If it's possible to get on the course here, then would you like to play a round? Thanks again.

You DEFINITELY know the golf lingo 2cents, maybe it's time to smash that little white ball into the heavens, and feel the joy of golf? First time for everything, right? The offer still stands...

phleques, couple of my friends have turned golf converts on being smitten after a day spent at the greens. So I just might take you up on your offer and find out if thwacking a small, hard white ball all day long turns out to be more fun that it appears!
![]() Did you get a reply from the High Range Club? |

hi 2cents, haven't heard back from the highrange club yet, but did find a website listing the courses in south india; www.golftoday.co.uk , seems there are 2 in munnar, one cochin and trivandrum, plus kodaikanal, ooty and coimbatore! some are private and might require a member to get access. maybe trying to play the 3rd or 4th week in april???

Hi phleques, I am not sure about the other golf courses in the south but the Cochin Golf Club does allow visitors and guests to play at the golf course in Bolgatty Island. Their website has all the details.
As you are particular about playing in plantation golf courses, staying at High Range Club or the Teameadows resort will give you access to the Golf course in Munnar and the more exclusive links in Kundle(for Teameadows guests) |

Thanks 2cents, for the links. Cochin sounds good to me, i'll be flying out of Cochin May 2, maybe I could come up a day early and we could play there. Do you live nearby? Thanks again!

phleques,I stay in Cochin so we can meet-up if you are going to be here around May 1st. If you are unlucky enough to be stranded on the golf course without any partners, I can always give a hand and swing along

Looking forward to it 2cents. How can I reach you? I'm planning on buying a cell phone in India. And if you have friends that might like to join, the more the merrier!
