Geeta Singh Phogat

I only know she is from near Punjab, so I put it in this forum, change it if you want. Anyway I grew up wrestling in the US, and have been a long-time supporter of female wrestling. I wonder what people in the area think about her participating in this sport. I am interested if she is even talked about at all.

Yeah, I looked her up, and she was on my yahoo this morning too. I was quite impressed. Female wrestling is sort of contraversial in the states (or was because some girls still compete against boys), I just wondered how it was taken in India. I personally do think it's great!

Athletic competition or participation is great. India needs medalists, she is a Gold Medalist. She made India proud.

I read a few more articles about her yesterday, basically the family was ridiculed for letting girls wrestle until they found success, then everyone wants to be them. The moral of the story is work hard, forget about what others say and you can and will achieve greatness. I am happy to have found out about these girls!
