Games

What kind of games do children play in India? I mean, hopscotch or jacks or hide-and-seek? Stuff like that. Are there popular rhymes? For obsessive compulsive children, we have the famous "Step on a crack, break your mother's back."

What games do adults play? I live four blocks from the upper end of Lincoln Park in Chicago and now that it's hot, people are playing soccer, baseball and volleyball. They're also jogging, bicycling and rollerblading. How do adults in India get rid of energy? Like, what is that sport that looks so foreign to me? Is it cricket? Should I learn something about cricket as a conversation starter?

Children fly kites and roll old tires with sticks!
Tennis is very big in India among the mid to upper class and is a great way mix with the local yocals - so bring a racket but get ready for a struggle cause they're all pretty good.

Cricket is everywhere in India - so be prepared for full immersion - The best thing about cricket after a long hot tiring day in India is - it's always on TV - snap it on before bedtime and you'll be out like a light - best sleeping pill ever invented!

When I was in India I sometimes loved staying in my hotel room in Delhi and just watch New Zealand v South Africa. Have some great food from down the road, bring it into the room, and just relax with a beer. I played a few game of cricket in India, and I must say I won't ever forget them because of all the attention you get when you're an Aussie.
