I understand your passion Paagla, but Sourav needs to fight his way back into the side as should Tendulkar and Sewag IMHO.

Being a good captain doesn't excuse his batting woes!!

Nor should celebrity status excuse others when they don't deliver!!

Fully agree CH.

However, my point is that the ploy to destroy the Indian cricket team is succeeding - thanks to a combination of politics, double standards in selection, selfish submissive leadership and hidden agendas.

And who exactly is behind the ploy to destroy the Indian cricket team?

In my opinion, anti-Dalmia lobby where The Great Chapel is involved with his ego problems. Ohhhh….. if I don’t mention the name of another living legend of Indian cricket history – Mr. Kiran (all time great) More, it will be an injustice.

Actually the problem WAS already present there, before Chappel but when he came, it just got aggravated. Ganguly should have been dropped when he was playing real badly like one and a half year back. But then Dalmiya held onto him. And when Ganguly started picking up, then he was dropped. Problem was in both sides. Ganguly should never have gone to public in Zimbabwe. That one bad decision has cost him his career. But anyways, I am not overtly pessimistic about Indian cricket, I think we are going in right direction as far as administration and one-day team is concerned.
The only problem i see is, that players are getting chosen for test-team on the basis of their performance in one-day game. Thats why we dont see any solid players like dravid emerging lately. All of the newcomers are dashing strokeplayers. which can win you matches but they cant SAVE matches for you.

Very true. If you look at the Aussie team, they have different one day team to the test team. I love the way India is going in the one dayers, especially against Pakistan. 4-1 in Pakistan. Music to my ears.

Is that a question? You will have to get the answer for yourself I am afraid. I am sorry but the answer is obvious to many with an interest in the subject - so I do not see any need to spell it out.

I know that's a bit "uncricketing".....almost "underarm"....but why not?

Is Chappell running 'office of profit'?

Is Indian cricket at the cusp of its very own "office of profit" crisis? Media reports indicating that there is a business arrangement between chief selector Kiran More and national coach Greg Chappell have led to tentative fingers being pointed to their apparent congruence of views on team composition.

To recap, More's cricket school in Baroda - where Chappell spent some time a few weeks ago, smiling in front of television cameras - has become the first Indian client/partner of the Australian International Sports Academy (AISA), a private enterprise Chappell is affiliated to, and which runs a programme called "The Chappell Way".

At close to Rs 1 lakh each, aspiring Indian cricketers can travel to Australia for a two-week "Chappell Way" regimen. The first batch of trainees to leave India is from More's academy. Interestingly, Chappell's partner in the AISA-run project is Ian Frazer, a hitherto unknown bio-mechanist the coach has brought into the Indian support squad.

The episode, which has exercised the BCCI, raises three potential conflicts of interest. One, when Chappell visited More's academy was he travelling as the Indian coach on a goodwill mission to enthusiastic young cricketers? Or was he on a business promotion roadshow?

Two, if a cricketer who has been part of More's academy and has paid up for the " Chappell Way" is soon selected for India, would it appear regular? Perhaps that is why the BCCI is looking to appoint full-time, professionally-paid selectors, not part-timers who have their own business concerns.

Three, was Saurav Ganguly, among other cricketers, a victim of this "office of profit" jugalbandi? During the recent England series, More boldly told the Press that Ganguly would never be selected for India again.
