NEWSFLASH: England had unfair advantage at Mumbai!

This comes from none less than a great visionary coach:

"Indian coach Greg Chappell is convinced that heat has been the single most important factor in flagging the concentration of fielders. “It is not perhaps easily understood as to how difficult it is to field in such conditions,” said the Indian coach."

(Source: http://www.khaleejtimes.com/Displayarticle.asp?xfile=data/sports/2006/March/sports_March515.xml&section=sp orts&subsection=cricket)

England must have fielded at a different venue or did they manage to sneak in air-conditioners into the ground?

This has to rank as one of the TOP 3 excuses given by the coach of any team.

Nobody expects garciousness in defeat from some people.

Bottomline: this happens when average players are accorded star status to suit the political games played by imported over-paid staff.

Then Chappell and Dravid should be congratulated for scoring 100 in 48 overs in a Test Match innings.

I don't see it as an excuse, PD.

In the article, Greg Chappel has commented in general on the heat affecting fielders, nowhere has he specied "Indian fielders" nor offered it as an excuse for the defeat.

I know Greg Chappel is the brain behind Ganguly's(perhaps your favourite !) ouster; but that does not mean you must slam him everytime everywhere for everything !

The better TEAM won at Wankhede.

Because they had faith in their OWN people.

I do not remember the England coach commentig about the heat or moaning about conditions, though. Surprise, surprise!

But then he probably does not understand cricket as much as some great Visionary coaches.

Is "under-arm" bowling officially banned now?

Quote:
Gavaskar was critical of the home side's decision to field first on a pitch that was expected to help seamers early on, but felt the Test could still have been saved.

"That India were all out once again in less than 50 overs tells a story of how too much one-day cricket and too much shuffling of the batting order has had an adverse effect on the confidence of the players," Gavaskar wrote in the Hindustan Times.

"It may work against a weak Sri Lanka but against quality bowling, it comes a cropper like in Pakistan and Mumbai," wrote the legendary opener.

on hindsight, it could have been a different story if the think tank had decided to play in order to accept a follow on. then england would have had to play on the last innings with kumble and bhajji ensnaring them to their doom.

wonder why our strategists did not pursue these lines.

Beacuse our strategists are on the RIGHT track.

That of ensuring that the team with green baggies has no competition.

Every Indian player who stood up against the sledging brigade, threatened their arrogance and domination and paid them back in the same coin during 2001-2004 has now been dealt with. Well Done!
