Mumbai pitch is a big turner.. remember what happened to Australia last year. The test finished in 2 days flat. I doubt if England can stretch it to that.

I remember when Graham Gooch came to india with his team in 1993, there was a lot of speculation of them crushing india, but then slowly things started crumbling, kumble arrived and decimated whoever came in his way. And long before the tour was over english media started complaining about food, pollution, itinerary, for the looming defeat. England lost 3-0, never fully recovered and went into a hole.. for the next decade. Lets hope that will not be the case this time around.

now, come on chaps, stiff upper lip and all that. I think we need to take a leaf out of Daeve's book and start to look on the bright side.

ps Daeve, perhaps you could also help me to put a more positive spin on the english rugby team right now?

England has begun its tour of India's food and weather. Hope they beat it.

Indian cricket team is set to record yet another superficial win. Hope the boys are in good health...they are likely to give some stiff competiton to the English on bad health/fitness

thanks for the offer G, but i think i'll keep shtum on this one!

as for welsh food, seems to consist mostly of the rare delicacies known in the local lingo as: 'pitsas' and 'kebaps'...maybe something the romans left behind?

here we go.....

....246/7 at the close.....well, I've seen Hoggy bat for hours, keeping Murali at bay while Thorpe racked up a ton at the other end, so it's not finished with yet ....some soft dismissals today tho', like the England of old ....what I'm looking forward to tomorrow is Monty Panesar, England's first Sikh player, coming on to bowl....if he can give it a rip then who knows...whatever else, India still have to bat last......

on the other hand, if I had to choose a batsman to bat for my life it would be Rahul Dravid....just gotta love test cricket, whichever way it goes....

peace & love

ever positive eh D...good on you.
But, it's gotta be said, if you win the toss and elect to bat, 246/7 just ain't good enough. Pieterson is running out of chances in my books and i've only marginally more patience for Mr Bell.

Oh well, let's hope the Sikh boy has a blinder!!

Didn't see much of the game but looking at the scorecard it appears that the spinners weren't particularly effective and there was apparently some reverse swing for the medium pacers. That could provide some hope for the Poms since they clearly have better seamers. More likely though they will probably lose with Kumble coming into his own in the third innings and leaving a small target for India in the fourth. Perhaps even an innings victory if India bats really well.

393 all out.....

....very respectable recovery from the beleaguered tourists, don't you think? And the mighty Virender gone in the third over....still a game in Nagpur I reckon.....

peace & love
