End of an era
On off side there is god, then there is …. Well, this was the compliment given by one of his team-mates. Surely, he had lot of vices. He was chosen the captain of the country because someone very influential wanted it. He relied more on his natural ability than hard work. He wanted to score more through boundaries and over-boundaries than running between the wickets. He was so often the cause of others’ getting run-out. He was laid back, bit princely. And was punished for that – by getting ousted of the team. It could have been the end of the road, but he proved it to be the boon, not bane. He fought back, like the cornered tiger. Fortune had to favour this brave man. He was undaunted, unstoppable.
This was the man who taught India to keep her head high, how to breathe on the king’s neck in his fort, and dethrone him. He was not calculative, unlike the world’s so-called greatest “first innings wonder”. He was the real prince, torch bearer in his field. Gavaskar once said that one should retire when everybody is asking why, and not when. Perhaps he wanted to be spared of the ignominy of being dropped out again despite performing continuously. Lets’ salute Sourav. |

Dada is the person who brought aggression to the team, and due to his actions the new breed knows how to control the aggresion. he has set a precedent, on what to do and where one can go wrong, future captains will benefit from it a lot.

i can now watch cricket more objectively, dispassionately...
with less emotional investment in the outcome. that will probably make me a better analyst - but a poorer fan of the game. i look forward to IPL - [ hope to gawd, he's learning the 123's of 20/20 ] :brishti |

not nice.
not nice to punch someone when he's obviously down and out. i remember what was done to ganguly - after the zimbabwe fiasco... i remember it well. i remember the humiliation - i remember the press... gosh, i remember them days well. and i wouldnt wish it on anybody. leave dravid be. :brishti for the record: [ i was never, ever a fan of dravid's cricket and/or attitude... the so-called stoic wall ] |
