Advice on cricket matches. I'd love to go se a live match, it doesn't have to be the national team.

I know they're playing against the aussies while i'm there, but not anywhere near where i am, at that time.

I'm going to both Bombay and Calcutta, there should be a decent chance that a match is taking place either of the places, shouldn't there?

I'm going in October.

You might be able to catch an ODI or Twenty20 match against the Aussies... or a domestic competition at least. Depends on your whereabouts.

Check cricinfo for the fixtures in October

Man, I've searched high and low but there's nothing out on the web about Ranji Trophy (state/county level ) matches in Oct - my sense of the rhythm of these things in India is perhaps too dulled.

In the past I've just gone off to a college playground ( e.g. SP College, Pune ), plonked myself down in the pavilion and enjoyed an afternoon of varsity level cricket.

You could try that - perhaps call up the college(s) beforehand?

If you are anywhere near Pondicherry in late sepember, join us for a real game. I have an IT office there... me plus my Australian based IT guy plus my 5 Indian IT guys = 7. We need another 4 for a "betting match" with a local Pondicherry team

Well if ur aim was to get some reaction from an Indian guy here then u succeeded. We are going to kick some major aussie butt here. Remember we very seldom lose at home. But before all that we will have to figure out how to deal with this Mendis guy. He is creating some major havoc.

PS. Never mind my avatar here. i am much embarrased about it.
