Congratulations to Strauss who has just hit a century. Freddie is doing well too with lots of fours - about time he whacked it for 6 though!
COME ON ENGLAND! |

What do you reckon Rob a good days work or your nails in no state to type!
A good "night shift" could see 360=80 on the board, is it enough or are we relying on the weather!! Jeez I never thought I could get so into an England team winning!! I had this before when Rooney made his international final entrance, in Portugal I wanted England to win just to see more of the boy!! Anyway "ha way the barmy army!!" |

Gosh, I dunno. They might already have a decent score, or they may be well under par. When I saw the pitch first thing I thought 500+ is needed, but as the day went on the ball started to reverse swing an awful lot (and turn as well). This might not be as good a pitch as I initially though.
Still, the runs are on the board and if we can sneak up to 400, I'll be very happy. ![]()

When the second best spin bowler the game has produced...a Sri Lankan chap...last bowled on this pitch in a Test, he took "nine for" in the last innings.
Can the fat leggie equal this feat?... And will the English team chair him off ground if he does? |

Thanks everyone for the information.
I don't have the Test on my stations, I'll have to wait for India to play to see another game. Go England? |

Who coined the phrase "the fat leg spinner"? I love it!, Very amusing! If I were an Englishman I would be very worried about the effect Warne is going to have on the game in the second innings when the pitch actually does start to turn? Likewise, as an Aussie I am a tiny bit worried about what Freddie's reverse swing is going to do to the likes of Hayden and Gilchrist. I just hope the Aussie's can get rid of the tail quickly. Go the Aussies & the fat leg spinner!!!

I was listening to the radio last night and a Yorkshire gent commented that there were not enough surperlatives to describe Warne.......surely "the fat leg spinner" says it all!

so, if warney's the fat leg-spinner (note use of hyphen...i presume we're not trying to suggest that only his legs are fat!!) then ponting has to be 'the simian'...don't take to him at all.
anyway, it's certainly on a knife edge and i'm off to try and find a telly...i'm on the main bazar here in delhi and it's very very hot and sticky!! yeah rob, 500 would have been nice but i'll certainly settle for 400! Kx |

Test poised interestingly at lunch on day 4, with the Aussies still trailing England on the first innings, with 4 wickets in hand.
Let's hope the weather does not cause any more stoppages today and tomorrow ! Well, Well, Well !! The glorious uncertainties of the game come to the fore again, as Australia are bundled out just after lunch for 367, giving England a lead of 6 runs ! ![]()

Amazing! these twists have been a feature of this series. Cricket at its unpredictable best.
Test cricket has been more fun to watch, for the last 2 years or so. |

it's still looking pretty tense from where i'm sitting. Though missing watching it live (i'm in mcleod ganj now and there's no tellys!) i think i'm quite glad not to be putting my long-suffering heart through watching yet another extremely tense sporting event involving our national team...normally it's the football!
Oh well, provided we can hold warne off a bit longer than we did in the 1st innings and that the weather (god) continues to lend a helping hand, maybe it won't be quite so tense as the last 3 tests!! |
