Dosen't matter. The Aussies won't be smiling as long as Bucknor and Co. are present to hand out their "rough" decisions !

yes, there's nothing like winning again to stimulate some enjoyment.
Though one of the highlights of the summer has been the good will between the teams. This was beautifully displayed by flintoff's very gracious gesture towards brett lee after the 2nd test...so rare in sport nowadays...K

I must admit that I'll support England through thick and thin, but it is so nice to be going into the final test of the biggest series in years with a chance of the team achieving something special.

Come on England!

The words India and Cricket used in the same sentence bring back fond memories of my last trip. It was oct 2003 and ing cup was being played between Ind, Aust and NZ. There are many cultural differences between Indians and Aussies but cricket provides a common bond. Watched a few games on TV with the locals and supported the Indians---when in Rome! Picked up a official series magazine before I left OZ; it had a pic of the great Tendulka on the front cover, when ever I felt in need of a chat all that was required was to display this pied piper. I made friends with many Indians utilising this method and was treated like a prince throughout my travels. Anyway I recon you will have a ball watching the test in Dehli, find a big screen somewhere and watch it with the locals.

It seems like.. when the team is playing good test cricket.. their one day games suffer.. and vice versa...

I'd just like to see India fullfil it's undoubted potential! Perhaps less advertising by the players would help

Go the Aussies! The toss will be most important. The side batting second hasn't won yet and given the Oval is a good batting pitch, it'll be even more important. If the English win the toss, I think that Australia will be hard pressed in winning the ashes. Likewise, I can't see England having the mental reslove of batting out the final day to save the Ashes. The publicity in Australia has been huge, I shudder to think what it's like in England!

Question? I was watching India vs. S. Africa games last month. I went to a web site to learn more about the game, but I am now total confused about winning a inning.
The web site said

An innings is completed if:
A team chasing a given target number of runs to win manages to do so.
so you set your target to 30 and you win in no time??? I don't get it???

There are two forms of the game, Test cricket and One Day Cricket. The former is scheduled over 5 days and involves two innings for each side. Its possible that even after battling it out over the full five days, the game may end in a draw or a tie; ie. no result.

I suppose your question relates to the One Day Cricket format. In this, each team can bat only once, ie. for one innings each. A maximum of 50 overs are permitted for each side. The team that scores more runs wins, regardless of the wickets lost.

Thanks Shimla,
Which is most common? Test or One day?
Then there is no maximum overs for Test cricket? Is it possible for a team to play just about the whole time and the other team not much? What keeps both teams with equal time hitting?

How do you explain a game that may go for 5 days, and at the end of which may not even have a result? Shimla, I wish you good luck trying to explain your way out of this one!
