Richie?? I'll have to google that one.
Anyway the coast is clear for a serious bit of academic brainstorming Rob, up until Thursday where I suspect studying SKY may become a preoccupation!

Commentry wise I quite like the Yorkshire lad : Ahh, divorced, mouthy, thoroughly Yorkshire...........played for England "an there's been nowt like it sinds"
Ha Boycott, what a strange train of thought!!!

India side I really don't Know the guys name but he's a a big burly guy with a Turban who loves to quote the parables of life.

Man, now I really feel like a cricket midget!!

Richie Benuad! The voice of cricket. He's been commentating in England for nearly 40 years now, and he finishes on Monday. He's particularly well known for pronouncing 2 as 'tchew' - so the score 222-2 ('Tchew hundred and tchwenty tchew fa tchew') makes cricket fans giggle the world over.

I think you mean Navjot Singh Sidhu for the Indian commentator - he's a real love or hate figure, personally I think he's hilarious.

Richie Benaud...the finest of them...I wish we were still in the radio age...

Sadly we have to do with Navjot Sidhu here I would have preferred watching him wallop Paki spinners rather...

A marvellous effort from Richie that one, super stuff.
Also the "fat leg spinner's" final Test on English soil. What a magnificent performer!

you guys should be damn well thanking us for the unexpected pleasure and excitement we have injected into your little english lives...

rtp - the fat leg spinner is such a scrag. if i see one more close up of his fat, balding, pouchy face screaming for a wicket i may just scream.

Dont know about others.. but I will be rooting for England.. Its not good for any sport when somebody rules the roost for too long .. Its feels gud to know that we were the ones who beat them in their heydays.. and made the farewell of Steven.. as tough as it gets.. .!! It will also make the upcoming tour of India by english team, next january, more interesting.

Dont even mention Siddhu.. even the appearance of his name has become irritating now.. . I mean how can you hear a guy tear apart batsmen of the calibre of laxman or Dravid when he himself used to refuse to play on bouncy tracks after the pitch reports to preserve his batting averages..!!!!!

and how can you say all these weird things about the greatest spinner of our times.. ...c'mon give him his due.. the ball that took the stumps of Strauss.. you are not gonna see anything like that for a long time..

Hes not balding anymore, havent you seen the advanced hair ads!

Seriously though, having now lulled you into a false sense of security, England will get a such a thrashing

I can understand England fans being happy because Australia is getting beaten, but its not exactly one sided. every test has been close - except the first one which England lost by 239 runs and the third drawn one. The others were won by 2 runs and then 3 wickets. It is by no means over.

Not until the Fat Sheila Sings lads

I dunno if anyone elses has been 'treated' to Shane's hairhat adverts. It features him and Graham Gooch, and is just about the funniest (in an embarrassing way) advert I've seen in years.

The tests have been too close, I swear every one of them from the second test onwards has made me feel sick.

jeez, while i was asleep, the aussies have hijacked my thread, so i'll say this once and i'll say it loud:

THE ASHES ARE COMING HOME MY FRIENDS!!!

see, now there can be no doubt.
Still, some respect goes to the fat leg-spinner, but Ponting? far too neanderthal-looking (and acting) for my taste...Kx

Is it just me, or is it a long while since I heared that hilarious phrase "the traditional English batting collapse"? It's funny how we used to accept defeat as a perfectly normal state of affairs.

Anyway its good to see you Poms enjoying the cricket again. It has been great to see the crowds creating a carnival atmosphere; the game is there to be enjoyed!
