5th test...

Ok let's leave all the usual boring stuff about which hotel to stay in, how not to get ripped off etc. etc. and talk cricket (apologies to my north american friends!))

I will be flying into delhi on the day of the vitally crucial 5th test (between england and australia). My question to all those already in india is, have they been showing the series live on indian telly or will i have to cancel my trip?!

Being a nation of huge cricket lovers, i am hoping the latter is true...K

I'd be stunned if you can't watch it somewhere - after all you are heading to THE nation of cricket nutters. Otherwise you can always get Aggers, Blowers and co via the BBC website.
Let's hope Jones the bowl is fit to do damage again.

My birthday coincides with the last day of the test, I hope it provides with a better prezzie than money can every buy (and not the coronary damage the last 3 have given me).

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!

At this current moment I seem to be living on line!
Actually I've just been proof reading my research project, and have Indiamike open in the background. It provides a nice distraction, but I need to have the work done by Wednesday (for obvious reasons).

I will be trying the CP idea in a couple of weeks when I go to Barcelona.

don't worry! the Ashes are being telecast live on ESPN & Star Sports (check which as they are affiliated channels) and will be available on cable anywhere in India. even the locals are enjoying this most interesting and gripping of contests.

i am rooting for the aussies to draw the series by winning at the brit oval. i hope you're not swinging the other way!

it doesn't really matter - as great cricket is guaranteed!

have fun!

play starts around 3 p.m. each day and lasts till 11 p.m. (IST)

I'd hope he's kidding.
Cricket (and the England especially) has had to put up with Aussie bragging rights for a long time now, it's about time for a change in the balance of power.
And I'm fed up with watching the fat leg-spinner dancing.

I reckon I'll enjoy the look on Ricky 'Penfold' Ponting's face even more if we win. He's just about the most dislikeable character playing cricket today, I so want to see him beaten.

Just 11 more runs Rob and you'll have your centuryX10. For heaven's sake don't get bowled at this stage of the game.

I think you'll find plenty local support for England, as the Indians like the English like to see the "unbeatable Aussies" on the rack!
Though the many Indian "purists" of cricket I come across may well be backing the finesse and pedigree of Australia.
Whatever, you'll be in good company for what promises to be a facinating test, hell I've never followed test cricket until now!!

Huh first time in India, a "to the wire" Ashes test finale, me thinks your really gonna enjoy your introduction to India, if you thought the Barmy Army loved cricket wait until you hit India.

Lastly get into the backstreets, see where cricket lives and breathes in India, the kids remind me of my youth when all there was, was kicking a football around to the imitation of Archie Macpherson's voice as we tore down the flanks of the too slow auld enemy!
Well we had to use a lot of footage twice but you know what I mean!

Cricket in the alleyways of India always takes me back to being a boy in Scotland when football MATTERED, remember the days???

Sniff cry....

Now I'll actually have to get on with some studying!

Actually, something even more significant than the Ashes happens in this match. It's the great man's final commentary in England!
A marvellous effort from Richie that one, super stuff.
