Yog-Ganga Centre for Yoga Studies - Dehradun
Hello all,
I have registered for a yoga course at the Yog-Ganga centre for yoga studies in Dehradun, Uttaranchal. The center is run by Rajiv and Swati Chanchani, senior teachers in the tradition of Sri BKS Iyengar. Has anyone studied there? Know anything about it?
The waiting list to study with the iyengars in Pune is about 5 years long, so I asked around and the only name that came up with regularity was the Chanchanis in Dehradun, but I don't know much about them.

hi... i know of several people who have studied there and they have all spoken very highly of both the centre and the teachers (especially swati). I think that after BKS, they are probably one of the best iyengar teachers in india. I personally have got more into the astangha world though i would still consider going there!

Well... this post is no doubt much too late for you but perhaps it might help others. I've had the good fortune to 'find' Yog-Ganga through a friend who attended a number of course at the Center. I spent Oct & Nov (06) there for 2 courses, and returned in Mar/Apr (07) again. I'm now just waiting for Oct 15th (07) when I return. This is a wonderful Yoga Center which is VERY MUCH in the Iyengar Style of Yoga. Whether this is the type of Yoga you seek or not, these are two absolutely superb teachers, each with their own specific approach to teaching. I know of no one I've spoken to on all 3 courses to date that were not fully satisfied with their classes, the Yoga Center, their accommodations, the location, the weather, et cetera !
....i have lived in india for over a year now and i never knew that this good site existed!!
very pleased...
well actually i just have another questions....
i would like to find somewhere nice to stay..how do you suggest going about that? should i ask the yoga centre to help me find accommodation or should i go privately??
i know your probably thinking what is my standard of nice?
well i have done the ashram stay a few times now and this time i would like ot go one step up.....as i plan to go during monsoon time i would like to go somewhere were it wont be affect as such by the weather...eg brown water!!! ive done that b4 and it wasnt great fun....
i want to find somewhere i am not gonna be worried about bugs or uncleanliness.. any suggestion?

I can only speak here from the perspective of someone wanting to attend the Yoga Class at Yog-Ganga. If that is you case then make application via their web page ; <http://www.yog-ganga.com> and as part of your application ask that they find accommodation for you. I can assure you that if you are billeted in one of the houses they provide for students, you will NOT be disappointed. I'm leaving Canada on Monday 23rd March for a return to Old Rajpur (yog-ganga) for my 9th or 10th course with these teachers. The course starts on March 28th. Other courses are listed on their site. Trust this is helpful for you.

Personal friends and you're graced if you are in, you would have to search long and hard to find a more integrated approach, if you are spiritually inclined and i hope so and if you can get Rajiv on a roll he can outline with great knowledge the spirituality of Yog.

From Clocktower go all the way up Rajpur road, try the Lassi wallah on the left which name has slipped away, don't turn left at the mini roundabout for Mussoorie, continue straight and up the hill into the Tibetan colony, left at the hilltop, next left down a thin lane and it's 30 Mts on your right. Yog-ganga
Has anyone studied at Yog Ganga in Dehradun? I am thinking about doing a course there in July.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Thank you. I had a feeling they were good but just wanted to get a second opinion.
(Mod note: I've moved your query here, into the thread livinhimalays mentioned ...
)
) I have attended the Chanchani's school on 4 occasions .
This is a wonderful school with two wonderful teachers. For anyone seriously interested in Iyengar Yoga 3 weeks with the Chanchani's should not be missed
