Wish to hear experiences about Kamakhya in Assam?

Hi, I am planning to visit Kamakhya at Assam in April. I am going there for around 2 weeks with a view to try and understand Tantra better. I shall be obliged if those who have been to Kamakhya, can kindly share their experiences.

I had been to Kamakhya a few year back. Though I tried to meet somebody connected with 'tantra', I could not as I did not have enough time.Kamakhya is known for animal sacrifice and things like that; but I do not know about the latest position. Being there on the hill is a good experience and it is easy to reach there from Guwahati. Any way hope you will enlighten us after your visit.

I have got some details about THARAPITH in W.Bengal where I think you can understand more about Tantra.It is about 250 kms from Kolkotta i Bhirbhum village and the Kali Temple here is famous. Away from this temple there are buriyal and cremeation grounds which are inhabited by Tantriks, I have been told.The temple also is visited by many Tantriks and Bavul singers and many interesting groups, I have been told by friends who visited here.I am certain that more details will be coming from this thread and that is why I am posting this here.

Thanks Narayan. To the best of my knowledge, Tarapith is a place where Aghoris mainly visit. My interest is mainly Kaula Tantra and not Aghoris. I shall be obliged if anyone can guide me to a guru / ashram / centre where I can learn Kaula Tantra.

Why would you want to go somewhere else when you are in Kerala- the motherland of Tantra. There is the Tantra Peedam near Periyar, You can easily look up references on the net.

Reaswaran, I tried to search for Tantra Peedam, Periyar on the net but could find any link. I shall be obliged if you can kindly give me the link for Tantra Peedam Periyar.
