Vipassana Service in India

Greetings,

Can anyone advise me about doing service on a 10 day Vipassana course in India. Can you recommend any particular centres that are open to Western servers? What experiences have you had or heard about?

I'll be in India from January 6th 2007- February 2nd 2007. My first choice to serve was Dhamma Giri near Mumbai, but it looks like there are no 10 day courses that match my schedule.

Thank you
Lauren

Hi Loza, I did the 10-day Vipassana course at Allur village, which is several kilometers outside Bangalore. You would probably have no difficulty getting a place there for January. This center has recently built a dormitory for women with private rooms.

If you look at the first STICKY at the top of this forum (not this thread), you will find one entitled VIPASSANA CENTERS IN INDIA. Click on the link and you find the info you want there.

hope this helps, gregor
