Help!I'm becoming too cynical!
Hippy chick, recently I read a book called Sadhus. I loved it. I think this will put things into their proper perspective for you. It's written by a french guy called Patrick Levy. I don't know if its available outside of India.

Had a sadhu try to grab my breasts twice in Daramasala at the chai stand. I ended up swatting him with my hands to gasps of horror from the locals. They were horrified I was hitting him, not that he was grabbing my boobs.
Ha! Kick him in the nuts a next time
(Well, as a figure of speech anyway. Like you yourself indicate, the results might be less than what you'd been looking for. So, as the wise stranger in a strange land, maybe best to make yourself scarce on such occasions and as best you can, in fact.
That may not always concur with our feelings of what is just; but you are, indeed and after all, a stranger in a strange land.)

So women should not go to chai stands to avoid being groped because it isn't their country? Or we are just supposed to walk away without responding to being groped because we are a foreigner? She hardly made a scene by swatting him with her hands. She didn't attack him with a rock to the head. This is simply not funny or acceptable and Tracy did the right thing. It's a chai stand!! A sadhu being an asshole deserves a good smack.
Don't get this at all. It has nothing to do with being a foreigner, except we stand out more. The guy was a jerk.
My selected India photos http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...r/7030/cat/500 No; I said so being a man as you'll know, and having, occasionally, run into unsavory situations there, as I might and have elsewhere. (And otherwise not giving too much thought to moving around anywhere there, high or low class, day or night.)
I meant nothing else than I said: My gut feeling would be to kick the guy, sadhu or otherwise, in the nuts.
Common prudence might dictate to leave it a little less direct than that. As Tracy herself seemed to indicate in her description.
That is all, see what you make of it.

I disagree. A sadhu, in such circumstances, deserves a baseball bat. Posting Rules
