Hi everybody, I am back from Uttarakhand a month back. Had a wonderful treak in Kedarnath, Tunganath, Deoria. Thanks to all of you for the wonderful information you all supplied. I am heading for Yumthang in last week of December. We are six with a 4yr old.I have contacted Iceland tours and travels for a two nights three day tour. They are going to put us up in Iceland hotel in Lachung. Now, my quieries are 1. How is this hotel? 2.What are the things we are going to see on the way to Lachung? 3.Are Katao , Zero Point , Yumesamdong on the same way? 4. What will be the temperature then?

We are back from Yumthung, Zero point in this Oct end. All the hotels are basic at Lachung. Best is Fortuna (we stayed there); Modern & Snow lion are also ok, rest all very basic. You defintely require room heater which those hotels normally dont provide, talk to your operator very clearly about that. Getting NV food is another problem there, talk about that too, if u want. You can see many falls like seven sister, naga, bheema. You can stop to Kabi, Singhik, Mangan for some view points. Zero Point, Yumesamdong are same, actually Yumthung is also in same route. you have to cross Yumthung valley to go to Zero Point. Yumesamdong is another valley just before Zero Point. Katao is in different route. In Dec u will get snow everywhere, so u can avoid going to Katao, road is horrible. It will be sub zero. In Dec, snow will be all arround Lachung. You need not to go upto Zero point to get snow. Road may also be closed, talked to ur tour operator for that. We got lots of snow at zero point in end Oct. Its beautiful. We also contacted Iceland for our tour but finaly settled with someone else for better offer.

I am assuming this rates includes only Lodging and Boarding. We took this route from Gangtok it self @ 1600 Rs par couple for 1N/2Days including on the way site scene in 3rd Week of Dec 07, our route was Lachen - Magan - Lachung - Yumthang - Zero Point. We stayed at Lachung forget the name of Hotel and we were freezed as Heater were there but lights were not there, and this is a problem in this region. But you are going in last week and they are expecting lot of snowfall post Dec 25. We were covered with Snow in Lachung it self. I think we could do 2N/3Days tour including Gurudongmer Lake, but it will be close in December. Getting a Veg food is problem over here. If you have time then you can stay at Lachen as well, it will be little chieper then Lachung and it is near bank of Tista River. (Enjoy pure and fresh water of Tista) Regards Rushi
