Woolens to carry in May??

I am taking my family (consisting of 2 senior members 65+ years of age and 2 children - 8 years old) to Darjeeling, Gangtok, Pelling, Yumthang/Lachung trip from May 01 to May 12. Can someone please advise on what woolens to carry? Will just a woolen sweater, cap and socks be enough? Or do we need thermal innerwear for Lachung?? Please help since I am worried because of the senior members and children We will be going to Changu lake/Nathula and also to Yumthang valley - these seem to be the higher altitude ones. Thanks a lot.

light woolens enough for Darjeeling, Gangtok, Pelling at that time - can't speak for the other places. Rainwear will be essential.

Thanks, Brisso for your info.

Can anyone let me know about Lachung and Yumthang - are light woolens enough?

light woolens will be enough unless ur someone who tends to feel exceptionally cold all the time....

I was there in the first week of April and was happy I carried thermals. Ofcourse should be much warmer by May, but if you have thermals, carrying them, they don't occupy much space anyway!
If not, don't worry too much. What I usually do is 'layer' - wear several layers of clothes - a t-shirt, shirt, light jacket, and regular jacket, so depending on how hot/cold it gets, I can add or peal off layers.
You should be comfortable carrying htem.

Thanks for the additional info, jaekae. I will carry thermals for the children at least.
