Which part of October / November for Sikkim?

We're wanting to visit Sikkim during a 3 week holiday sometime in October / November - to come from Kolkatta, then after Sikkim move on to Bodhgaya, then back to Kolkatta.

When exactly during October / November should we choose our 3 weeks? I've read that during this period there's a gap in the rain in Sikkim - but exactly when is this most likely? If we go early in this period, will it be too hot in Bodhgaya, when we move on? If we go late in this period, will it be too cold in Sikkim?

Also are there any Festivals to take account of - whether for their attractions or for making hotels & transport scarce?

Any advice much appreciated.

Festivals in OCT/NOV --- Dasara / Diwali and Ramzan

Book tickets air/train well in advance so as hotels.
Plan the itinerary in a way that yo will be at kolkata on Dasara festival day so that yo can see the Durga Puja, the most notable of the religious and social festival in Kolkata, occurs over a period of five days in October

The weather will not be hot in OCT/NOV in the places mentioned.

Thanks very much for that. Do you happen to know the dates of Dasara and Diwali this year?

how is Diwali celebrated in Bodhgaya?

Thanks very much for those dates. We could be in Bodhgaya at the start of Diwali. Does anyone know how Diwali is celebrated in Bodhgaya? i.e. do Buddhists celebrate it as well as Hindus?

Hi!
It’s nice to know that you are planning a visit to Sikkim… I would not be able to Bodhgaya, but with regards to Sikkim I would suggest that you make the trip in early oct coz it starts getting colder from late oct hence if you plan to visit North Sikkim there might be a problem.

I hope that helps.

Another Q on Sikkim climate in November

We're expecting to be in Sikkim from 26 October to 5 November. But we're not going to north Sikkim or very high. Just to Gangtok and the monasteries at Rumtek, Pemayangtse & Tashiding. How cold will it be in such places? Can anyone give indicative daytime & nightime temperatures?
