We're looking for somewhere to visit for a few days in December where there will be snow. Are there any nice towns in Sikkim where we could expect a reasonable snowfall in December??
Thanks ![]() |

Hiya Travelling Mum...
Welcome to India Mike...! About towns in Sikkim - Well, all of them are nice...! About snow - Are you interested in snowfall or just remnants of the snow on the ground... There will be several such places in the upper reaches... Cheers...! |

Hi solo_trekker, thanks for the reply.
Snowfall would be fabulous! But, really, we'd be more than happy with pre-fallen snow. Remnants sounds like a spattering though, hoping to find somewhere with enough snow that the kids (and me!) can play in it, snowballs, snowmen, that sort of stuff ...oh and places with this level of snowfall, will they all be accessible? or does the snow tend to cut them off? |

In Yumthang Valley you'll find snow all year long.
I visited the valley in april and we had a snowfall there at that time. Guess december would be too cold there. |

Thanks
Yumthang Valley looks Beautiful! Realized I didn't actually mention, I'm planning well ahead(VERY unusual for me!), and we're actually looking to go the end of NEXT year(2010). Planning to get 4 months on holidays (Oct-Jan), 2 months in Nepal & 2 in India, hoping to cover some areas we missed last time (back in 2002). Mostly Sikkim/West Bengal area & Rajasthan. I love this place! Think I'll be around here a bit now, picking everyones brains, and keeping my excitement level up over the next year ![]() Thanks again!! |

If you want to enjoy snow then you have to go to sub zero for sure. Yumthang valley does not have snow all year long but during winter. You will find snow at Yumesamdong zero point or Katao from Yumthang valley at other season.
