walk village to village in Sikkim

Hi, first time going to India! We will be spending about a week in Sikkim, and were wondering if its possible to explore the region by doing day hikes from village to village. Are there good routes for this? Can you recommend any? Are guides mandatory as they are on the official treks? We will be going in early November, and will probably stay in the southern end of the state, as we will not have camping equipment or proper cold weather gear with us.

Last October I had walked it from Pelling to Keochepalri lake to Yuksome to Tashiding. You don'e need a guide or any special equipment for doing this walk. If you are going to South then you can do some day walks from Kitam and Sumbuk villages , also from Ravangla you can walk to Minam.

Diito - the pelling loop - good walk over 3 or even four days. Guest houses in each location.

Thanks so much! It's good to know you can hike without a guide always leading you around, as long as there are guesthouses in the villages sounds like we'll be fine.
