| Hi everyone I'm new to IndiaMike and its sheer bliss to be a part of it. We're planning a trip to North sikkim in september 2009 (family of 4) This is our itinerary DAY 1 : Reach Bagdogra from Delhi Proceed to Gangtok Stay Overnight at Gangtok DAY 2: Visit NathuLa and Changu Lake Overnight at Gangtok DAY 2 : Leave for Lanchen (as early as possible) Sight seeing on the way Overnight at Lanchen DAY 3 : Lanchen to Gurudongmar Lake Head to Lachung Overnight stay at Lachung DAY 4: Yumthang Valley Back to Gangtok DAY 5 : Return to Delhi>Chandigarh Regarding this I have a few queries Is september a good time to be going to Gurudongmar-Yumthang? Is it possible for us to do Yumthang and head back to Gangtok the same day? What all are exactly the places of interest in Yumthang? Last i would want to know if we should book our tour in advance, with a travel agent for North Sikkim, or is it possible for us to do that from Gangtok? Which of the option would be more economical? |

| in sep it is raining in many parts of our country. sikkim is no exception. but you can be lucky, as it is raining in patches . as regards youmthang and gangtok on same day, return journey is done on last day in 3D,2N tour of north sikkim. while covering youmthang ( it blooms with flowers only in apr-may) , you can also see hot water sulpher springs. it is advisible to book after reaching gangtok, so that can negotiate a little bit. but on negatitive side, you may have to spend some time for searching right operator and many times permit is not available for next day(specially nathula). |

| I am new to the forum and excited to see the amount of information available here. Is N. Sikkim esp. Gurudongmar Lake and Yumthang accessible in late Jan/early Feb? Will it be unbearably cold? What will the day/ night temperatures be like ? |

The Tour Operators may have some setting inside the department to get the permit without them, but we got the permit made straight from the Tourist office and they asked for both the things. | |
