URGENT: Sikkim Tour in Dec - Help & Advice Required

Hi Guys,

I'm Shriram and I'm based in Mumbai. I've planned Sikkim as my honeymoon destination and will be reaching Bagdogra on 8-Dec-09.

A tour operator is offering me 9 Days/ 10 Nights North Sikkim & Darjeeling which includes 2 days each at Kalimpong, Gangtok, Pelling and Darjeeling. They are offering me a MAPAI Plan which includes breakfast and dinner. While all transfers & sightseeing by NAC Maruti Van Ex Bagdogra, Pelling sector would be by NAC Sumo. Accommodation is provided at The Silver Oaks - Kalimpong, Norkhill - Gangtok, Elgin Mount Pandim - Pelling and The Elgin - Darjeeling.

The total damage for this tour is around 60K INR.

Guys, need you advise and let me know your thoughts on the same.

The rate seems ok. But still check with other tour operator. You may get better deal who knows.I know 1 Safar Leisure Consultancy. Phone 09836077202. email- saflec@yahoo.com But my suggesion is do not make your honeymoon trip so hectic by visiting so many places within this time. The journey in himalayas are too tiring.

Hi Shri,

Even am from mumbai and would be landing @Bagdogra on 9th Dec for my honeymoon tour. Ive rcvd quotes from 2 tour operators for 10N 11 days package covering pelling-Borong-Namchi-Gangtok and price they offered me is @ 45K...which i feel still higher. When contacted hotels directly they are offering 20-30% off season discount and overall costing for my tour is coming down by 8-10K..so i m trying to negotiate with tour operators, if not i'll book hotels by own.

never trevel with any consultancy. they chtge triple!!! always book your own. darjeeling, gangtok are very helpful. u just landing & make ur trip yourself. everything is easily available- food, hotels, share jeep etc.so dont worry- enjoy urself.

you mentioned north sikkim.. but there is no stay in lachen and lachung . i think it may not be acceccible in dec.
are you covering changu and nathula(east sikkim) ?

i think dec is off season.. i feel you can definately do some negotiation by atleast 10 %.

Do not pre-book, take a share taxi to Gangtok from Bagdogra. Check out with a few operators, bargain hard and get the best deal. Check the condition of the car always.
