You have to take the services of a tour operator for visiting north Sikkim. Normally this comes as a package which includes accomodation.

Without taking Tour Operator ,I cannot traveling there.
Most of the time I have seen that Own arrange is better than a Tour Operator(reagrding Cost).
In tour operator,I have to finsih my journey according to my package.I cannot extends it.
No one knows in here to details which Transport agency and hotels name and address and what is the cost of them in here?

Ujjwal_29, while ur assessment on travel operators is right generally speaking, for North sikkim, especially Lachung, taking a package works out okay economically, as far as I know. That's because the package includes travel, stay, food and sightseeing. Supplies for the tourists need to come from gangtok and your tour operator gets them with you, and the resorts in lachung also engage with tourists through operators.

You can try reaching directly to LeCoxy resorts in Lachung and see if they do direct booking. That place was just the best!

After couple of days searching on N sikkim.
I have planned to go there at 1st week of January'10.
I am going NJP using Darjelling mail and then take Bus from Tenjing norge bustand to gangtok.
Is this time peak season? Is this time hotel and Tour contractor charge more?
I will reach Gangtok and stay there a resonable hotel.

But my first criteriya from gangtok to

1. changoo lake ,Baba mandir and Nathula pass for one day.
2. Chungthang to Lachung to yumthang,Yumthang Hot Springs for another day.
3. Chungthang to Lachen to Gurudongmar lake for another day.
4. Tashi view point and Rumtek Monastery for one day from gangtok.

I will go there with my father(64 yrs),Mother(55 yrs),Sister(25 yrs),me(31 yrs) and my wife (24yrs).
Just after marraige i want to go there?

so can anyone guide me how much cost would be for 6 days in Gangtok and N.Sikkim.

Hi ujjwal,if u r looking for a budget hotel. i suggest a hotel 'TENANCY' just near the market of gangtok. it is decent and nice hotel. In 2008 march it costed around Rs 450 per day.And the lachung-lachen package ranges accordingly. but i suggest u to book for these places from a known source bcoz lachung and lachen are inaccessible places during winters and the lodges there have very moderate facilities. the day u spared fro tashi view point and rumtek monastery - u can also add 'ganesh tok, hanuman tok , ropeway, orchid flower exhibition. u can hire a taxi for a day and make most of the entire day.

Thanks smitasg.

since i stay in kolkata.
Can i talk over phone to you?
My contact number is 9830144585 and mail id is das.ujjwal@gmail.com.

In some tour agent told me that 1st week of January'10 is not possible to gorudongmer lake.beacuse yumthang is in ice so road is closed for goridongmer lake.
Is this true?
what is the ideal time for n.Sikkim?
what is the off season in n.Sikkim.

My priority is ice in yumthang and gorudongmer lake.
i will go there with my wife and my parents.

Thanks,
Ujjwal Das

Would visiting North Sikkim be a plausible idea in Jan ? Any chance Gurudongmar could materialize or would it be strictly off charts in Jan .
How is travel / weather in North Sikkim during 1st week to 2nd week in Jan?
